I really admire how comfortable Aucklanders are with bare feet. Bare feet in the mall? Absolutely. Bare feet in the grocery store? No sweat. Wearing flip-flops with exposed piggies in the Operating Theater? Every bloody day. What about letting pigeons nibble on bread from between your toes? No one does it better.

But one dumb American without socks in the bush? Not a chance against Kiwi 'squitos.
