Aucklandia

We've tried to take advantage of our surroundings in this city as much as possible. Here are a few pictures taken within a short walk of our temporary home in Parnell.

Find the Ashley....

On our walk home, tucked in a valley between the train station and our place.

This exotic plant happens to grow small children's footwear. This sandal was last seen at the Wintergarden indoor flower exhibit.

A stream leading out to Hobson Bay, just down the hill from us, by the rugby fields.

Parnell is a classy neck of town. The Prime Minister lives just down the street!

At the top of Mt. Eden - Auckland's "highest volcanic cone" - we had an awesome 360-degree view of the city. Rangitoto, a volcanic island in the bay, is seen in the distance.

The volcanic crater, 50 meters deep, is sacred ground to the Maori.
